Abstract

The article presents the schematic design of an acoustic stimulation device and the principle of its operation for ensuring synchrony and increasing the hatching rate of ducklings and goslings. The development of the device was based on data regarding the behavioral sensitivity of embryos to acoustic stimuli during the final day of incubation. The device is built on the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B platform and includes a power amplifier, wide-frequency-range speakers, as well as software that enables intermittent playback of both natural and artificial sounds. Experiments were conducted on incubated duck and goose eggs. The parameters assessed included the timing of pipping, hatching time, and the activity of ducklings and goslings during the first hours post-hatching. The results obtained demonstrated that the use of acoustic stimulation increased the hatching rate of young birds by 7–12% compared to the control group, and the ducklings and goslings themselves exhibited greater uniformity in body mass and mobility. The acoustic stimulation device is characterized by low cost, ease of replication, and the possibility of software modification of the stimuli. The developed device can be integrated into existing incubators or used for research purposes.
